This review is for all those who stand in front of the pasta sauces at the grocery store and stare at them in intimidation. So many bloody (pun intended) tomato sauces! If you’re like me you’ve tested most (Classico, Bertolli, Ragu, Prego, Emeril’s, Newman’s…phew,tried ‘em all!) and maybe have stuck with one but are looking for newer options.
Food Network chef and host of Everyday Italian, Giada De Laurentiis, has a special line of pasta sauces just for Target. If you’ve ever watched her show you know robust flavor, fresh ingredients, and Italianess are her forte. I’ve picked up many recipes and techniques from her so I was excited about my pasta sauce purchase.
After much deliberation of the five different varieties available I chose Roasted Garlic to pair with whole wheat spaghetti for dinner. The flavor and fragrance of Roasted Garlic pasta sauce is balanced evenly and not one ingredient overpowers the other. You know how some pasta sauces can taste too tangy, sweet, or even acidic? This does none of that. I think Giada figured out how to marry all the flavors in the jar without seeming like a store bought product. If you’re one to add more ingredients or flavor to your pasta sauce then this line is for you to try! Rich, creamy, buttery, yet surprisingly light.
